I did the same thing actually. Modified Windows XP SP3 and named it Windows Aurora.It took ~6Months for me to complete.

But I was happy that I successfully customized it as desired , for my own reliability and I learned much in the process.

But yes, I agree noone will use such a nonsense.Still,its not a wastage of time :-/

Tell that to the guys at nlite & vlite…
Making these hacks for re-distribution is a waste, making them for yourself can be quite a usefull tool…

I have a slimmed XP used for pulling data off dead drives
on a machine dedicated for doing such a job, the machine boots in around 20 seconds & uses minimal cpu & ram resources…

Yes, you can learn something by creating such a hacked-together OS, but you can also learn by coding something useful. Ultimately everyone has to decide for theirself whether creating a custom OS or not, but I have learned that it is wasted time. ^^

A waste of time? Not for you because you learned something. You learned it’s a waste of time and if you learn it’s not a waste of time xD
(forgive me, i don’t know why but i feel i just had to write it)

And yeah, i’ve never used it, i only saw the screenshots so i can’t tell much but it looked nice. And making such as projects is fun, even if a waste of time as well
